Most meaningful trip to Bidong

"Most Meaningful Trip to P.Bidong ! "

Today we have an especially meaningful trip ...

Since we discovered the P.Bidong Vietnamese Village last year,

we have taken a special interest in the place,

reading up on the history of the war,

stories and memories as shared by the Vietnamese Boat People

and relating to guests whom we have brought to island..

well.. I guess to most of them,

it's just another refugee camp...

But today,

Hien and Taryn came onboard for a nostalgic trip to P.Bidong ..

Hien came to P.Bidong in 1985 when he was a little kid

& stayed there for 6 months with his father.

" To go back and see the way it is now meant a lot to him

and has lots of memories to take back to Aus to share with his family. "

They even went snorkeling at P.Kara -

the island that has frequently been referred to as " island on the far side" !

Hien & Taryn,

not only was it a "memorable day" for you guys,

it certainly is a memorable day for us too..

you are the First " boatpeople "

whom we have brought to the island.

In September last year, a Vietnamese friend of ours, Billy, came from US to visit the island too,

he wasn't a "boatpeople"

but he has heard enough stories from them personally to want to make this trip..
